Building Aeris View: From Idea to First Production Run

The Aeris View Story

From Idea to First Production Run

How one engineer spent a year building a smarter CO₂ monitor from scratch — and why it matters for the air you breathe.

March 2025 – March 2026 · By Mohamed · Canada

Most people spend over 90% of their time indoors. Yet almost no one knows whether the air they’re breathing is actually safe.

In March 2025, Mohamed — an embedded systems engineer based in Canada — found himself sitting in a closed office, fighting brain fog at 3 p.m. every day. He knew the culprit: invisible CO₂ buildup. But when he went looking for a monitor that could track it accurately, he found a market full of compromises: cheap sensors that guessed instead of measured, devices tethered to USB cables, apps required just to see basic trends.

So he decided to build something better. Aeris View was born.

“You can’t improve what you can’t measure. I wanted to make the invisible visible — and make it dead simple.”

— Mohamed, Founder & Engineer

The Problem Nobody Sees

Indoor CO₂ levels above 1,000 ppm are disturbingly common in homes, offices, and classrooms. At those levels, cognitive performance can drop by 15–50%. You feel it as brain fog, poor sleep, afternoon crashes, and headaches — but you never know the cause, because CO₂ is invisible and odorless.

Existing monitors fell into two camps: cheap devices using VOC-based estimation (not real CO₂ measurement), or professional-grade instruments costing $500+. Nothing sat in the middle with real accuracy, long battery life, and a display you could just glance at.

The Journey: 12 Months of Building

From a blank PCB to a production-ready device. Here’s how Aeris View came to life.

March – May 2025

The Spark & First Prototypes

It started with frustration and a soldering iron. Mohamed began designing the core hardware around a precision NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) CO₂ sensor — the same technology used in laboratory-grade instruments. The goal: measure real CO₂ molecules, not estimate them. Early prototypes ran on breadboards and consumed far too much power.

June – August 2025

Firmware & Ultra-Low Power Engineering

The hardest challenge: making an always-on NDIR sensor last months on AAA batteries. This required writing custom ultra-low-power firmware from scratch — sleep cycling, optimized sampling intervals, and hardware-level power management. Every microamp counted. The display was designed to be always-on, readable in any light, with built-in 24-hour trend charts — no phone app required.

September – November 2025

Industrial Design & Testing

With the electronics proven, focus shifted to the enclosure and user experience. The compact white housing was designed to look natural on a desk, shelf, or bedside table. Extensive testing validated accuracy against reference instruments. Automatic and manual calibration systems were implemented to keep readings precise for years. The Bluetooth connectivity module was added for data sync and settings via the companion app.

December 2025 – January 2026

Brand, Website & Packaging

Aeris Technology officially launched at getaeris.ca. The brand identity was crafted, packaging designed for production, and the quick-start guide written in both English and French. The glass cover design was finalized and sent for manufacturing samples. Everything was coming together.

February – March 2026

Pre-Orders & Manufacturing Lock-In

The manufacturing supplier was locked in for Q2 2026 production. Free reservations opened for the first batch of 100 units at $180 CAD. Marketing campaigns launched across social media. The response validated what Mohamed always suspected: people care about the air they breathe — they just didn’t have the right tool to do anything about it.

What Makes Aeris View Different

Every design decision was intentional. Here’s what a year of engineering produced.

🔬

True NDIR Sensor

Measures actual CO₂ molecules using infrared absorption — not VOC-based guesswork. Lab-grade accuracy at a fraction of the cost.

🔋

Months of Battery Life

Runs on standard AAA batteries for months, even years depending on settings. No USB cables. No daily charging. Ever.

📈

Built-In Trend Charts

See how your air quality changed over the last 24 hours directly on the device. No phone app dependency.

📱

Always-On Display

Large e-ink style screen that never turns off. Readable in sunlight, gentle in the dark. Glance and know.

📡

Bluetooth Connected

Sync data, adjust settings, and receive air quality alerts through the companion app. Your data stays private.

🏠

Works Everywhere

Compact enough for your desk, shelf, bedside table, or car. Monitor any space you spend time in.

A Note from the Founder

I built Aeris View because I believe everyone deserves to know what they’re breathing. Not estimated. Not guessed. Measured.

This isn’t a side project or a dropshipped gadget with a logo slapped on. I designed every circuit, wrote every line of firmware, and tested every prototype myself. When you buy an Aeris View, you’re buying a year of engineering from someone who cares deeply about getting it right.

If something goes wrong, you won’t talk to a call center. You’ll talk to me. I’ll fix it, replace it, or refund it. That’s my promise.
